Roel Chavez

Roel Chavez is the President, Chief Executive Officer, and founder of Doc Lab®. He came to diagnostics from outside the medical field: eighteen years as a project manager and engineer in commercial construction, including disaster-relief work for FEMA, taught him how complex operations succeed — and what it looks like when an industry stops pushing itself forward. Seeing that gap in laboratory diagnostics, he spent years in research and development building what became Doc Lab, piloting the program in urology practices before expanding it to serve independent reference labs and hospitals nationwide. Under his direction, Doc Lab has developed its own proprietary reagents and assays through rigorous scientific evaluation and funded a multi-million dollar randomized clinical trial to advance the field of lab diagnostics and improve patient outcomes.

Roel's measure of success is simple: the labs and health systems Doc Lab serves get the tools, science, and support to deliver answers to patients, and they get them every single day. He remains closely involved with the organizations Doc Lab partners with, working collaboratively to understand their unique needs and find solutions to the roadblocks standing between them and better patient care.
