Billing Services
Laboratory billing is complex. Proper documentation, correct coding, and understanding payer requirements are essential for appropriate reimbursement. We provide the guidance to help you get it right.
What We Are (and Aren't)
We provide billing consultation and guidance—helping you understand requirements, optimize documentation, and implement good practices.
We are not a billing company. We don’t submit claims, manage accounts receivable, or handle appeals on your behalf. For those services, you’ll need a billing company or internal billing staff.
What we offer is the POL-specific expertise to help you (or your billing team) get it right. We understand the testing, the documentation requirements, and the common pitfalls—and we share that knowledge with your practice.
Navigating Laboratory Billing
Billing for physician office laboratory testing involves its own set of challenges: correct CPT codes, proper documentation, payer-specific requirements, and the ever-present risk of denials and audits.
Many practices either under-bill (leaving reimbursement on the table) or make documentation errors that lead to denials and compliance concerns. Neither outcome is acceptable.
While Doc Lab is not a billing company, we understand the billing landscape for POL testing and can provide consultation and guidance to help your practice bill appropriately.

Starting a New POL Understanding billing before you start testing helps you set up proper workflows and documentation from day one.
Adding New Tests Different tests have different billing requirements. When you add testing capabilities, billing guidance ensures you’re prepared.
Experiencing Denials If you’re seeing patterns of denials for POL testing, consultation can help identify documentation or coding issues.
Compliance Questions If you’re unsure whether your billing practices meet requirements, consultation provides clarity.
Common Questions
Do you submit claims for us?
No. We provide billing consultation and guidance, but we don't submit claims, manage AR, or handle appeals. You'll need a billing company or internal billing function for those services.
How does pricing work for billing consultation?
Billing services can be included as part of broader POL partnership or engaged separately. Contact us to discuss your needs and we'll provide options.
Can you help with denials we're already experiencing?
Yes. We can review denial patterns, identify potential documentation or coding issues, and provide guidance on addressing them.
Do you provide billing guidance for all tests?
Our expertise is focused on the tests and services we support—quantitative urinalysis, molecular UTI testing, prostate cancer risk assessment, and related POL testing. For tests outside our portfolio, our guidance may be limited.
Is billing consultation included with other services?
Basic billing guidance is included with End-to-End Implementation and White Coat Lab Management. More extensive billing consultation may be available as an add-on or standalone service.
