About Doc Lab
What does Doc Lab do?
Doc Lab implements and manages physician office laboratories for medical practices. We provide diagnostic tests (like quantitative urinalysis and molecular UTI testing), equipment, training, regulatory support, and ongoing management—everything practices need to offer in-office testing without the operational burden. We also manufacture our own reagents, giving us quality control and technical support capabilities that set us apart.
How long has Doc Lab been in business?
Doc Lab has been helping physician practices with in-office diagnostic testing for over a decade. During that time, we’ve evolved from a service-focused company to a vertically integrated manufacturer with deep expertise across molecular diagnostics, clinical chemistry, and regulatory compliance.
What makes Doc Lab different from other POL providers?
Three things primarily: First, we manufacture our own reagents—we’re not reselling someone else’s products. That means superior quality control and technical support from people who actually made the chemistry. Second, we provide true partnership, not transactional vendor service. We manage your lab with you, and our client retention speaks to the relationships we build. Third, we bring deep expertise across molecular diagnostics, chemistry, and regulatory compliance. When you have a question, you get a real answer.
Do you manufacture your own products?
Yes. We formulate and manufacture our own reagents for core tests like TrueUA™. This gives us control over quality from chemistry to clinic, and means our technical support team can actually solve problems—not just read from a troubleshooting script.
Getting Started
How do I get started with Doc Lab?
Start with a conversation. Contact us to discuss your practice, your goals, and whether POL makes sense for your situation. We’ll explain options, answer questions, and—if it’s a good fit—develop a plan. No pressure, no hard sell. Just an honest discussion about what’s possible.
How long does POL implementation take?
Most practices go from signed agreement to first patient test in 30-45 days. The exact timeline depends on equipment lead times, state regulatory requirements, and staff availability for training. We manage the process and keep you informed at every step.
What's involved in the implementation process?
We handle equipment selection, installation, regulatory paperwork (CLIA, state licensing), staff training, method validation, quality control setup, and go-live support. You provide input on preferences and designate staff for training—we coordinate the rest. Check out our POL End-to-End Implementation service to learn more.
Do you work with existing POLs or only new setups?
Both. We can implement a new POL from scratch or take over management of an existing laboratory. We can also add new testing capabilities to your current setup. Our services are tailored to your situation.
What if we already have some equipment?
We can work with existing equipment where appropriate, or help you evaluate whether upgrades make sense. Every situation is different—we’ll assess what you have and recommend the best path forward.
Tests & Services
What tests do you offer?
Our test menu includes TrueUA™ (quantitative urinalysis), UTI Express™ and UTI Max (molecular UTI testing), MiCheck® Prostate (prostate cancer risk assessment), STI Panel, Vaginitis Panel, and reference laboratory services including PGx and blood testing. See our complete test menu for details.
Are your tests available in all states?
Most of our tests are available nationwide. UTI Max is currently available in non-MolDX states, with MolDX coverage anticipated in 2026. Contact us for specific availability in your state.
How quickly do we get results?
Our in-office tests deliver same-visit results—typically within minutes of running the specimen. That’s the point: results while your patient is still with you, enabling same-visit clinical decisions. Reference lab testing may have longer turnaround times depending on the test type.
What equipment is required?
Equipment requirements depend on the tests you want to offer. We provide equipment selection guidance, procurement, installation, and training as part of our implementation service. You don’t need to figure out equipment on your own.
Compliance & Regulatory
What certifications does Doc Lab have?
Doc Lab maintains appropriate certifications including CLIA certification and relevant accreditations. We also help our client practices achieve and maintain their own CLIA certification and CAP accreditation as applicable.
How do you help with CLIA/CAP compliance?
Compliance support is built into our services. For implementation, we handle CLIA certification and regulatory paperwork. For ongoing management, we provide compliance monitoring, QC oversight, audit preparation, and regulatory updates. You stay compliant without it becoming your burden.
What happens during an audit?
We help you prepare for CLIA and CAP inspections with documentation review, mock inspections, and staff preparation. When inspections happen, we can provide on-site support if needed. Our goal is for audits to be non-events—because you’re always prepared.
Do I need CAP accreditation?
CAP accreditation is voluntary but offers benefits: it satisfies CLIA requirements, demonstrates commitment to quality, and may be required by some payers. We can help you evaluate whether CAP makes sense for your practice and support the accreditation process if you decide to pursue it.
Support & Partnership
What kind of support do you provide after go-live?
Our White Coat Lab Management provides comprehensive ongoing support: 24/7 clinical and technical assistance, compliance monitoring, QC oversight, staff training, equipment maintenance coordination, and proactive problem-solving. We don’t disappear after implementation—we partner with you for the long term.
Who do we call when we have questions?
You call us directly at (503) 402-2504. Our support team is available 24/7 for clinical and technical issues. You’ll reach people with genuine expertise—not a call center reading from a script.
What does "solve before sundown" mean?
It’s our service philosophy. When issues arise, we address them the same day—not next week’s service call, not a ticket sitting in a queue. Problems don’t wait, and neither should you.
What does "White Coat Lab Management" include?
White Coat Lab Management is our ongoing partnership service: compliance monitoring, QC oversight, 24/7 support, staff training, equipment coordination, and proactive problem-solving. It’s everything you need to run a successful POL without the operational burden. Check out our White Coat Lab Management sevice to learn more.
Pricing & Business
How does pricing work?
We provide transparent, all-in pricing based on your specific needs—equipment, tests, services. No hidden fees or surprise charges. We’ll discuss your situation and provide a customized proposal that clearly explains what’s included.
What's included in the cost?
Our pricing includes what you need without nickel-and-diming. Implementation includes equipment, training, validation, and go-live support. Ongoing management includes compliance oversight, QC monitoring, support, and training. Specific inclusions depend on your service level—we’ll be clear about what’s covered.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. We offer financing options for physician office laboratory (POL) equipment and implementation. This can help practices manage the upfront investment while benefiting from in-office testing capabilities.
