Dr. Gerry Weiss is an accomplished pathologist with extensive experience in the medical field. Born on November 10, 1953, he completed his undergraduate training at the University of Alberta, Canada, where he earned a Bachelor of Science with Distinction in 1975. Dr. Weiss went on to receive his Doctor of Medicine with Distinction from the same institution in 1977.
Following his medical education, Dr. Weiss completed his surgical internship at Kaiser Hospital, Oakland, from 1977 to 1978. He then pursued his residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center from 1978 to 1982. Dr. Weiss became board-certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology in 1982.
Dr. Weiss’ professional experience spans various roles, including Medical Director at several organizations, such as Regional Medical Center in San Jose, California, BioReference Laboratory in Campbell, California, and Hunter Laboratories, also in Campbell, California. He has also served as the Founder and Medical Director of Bay Area Pathology Group Laboratory, San Jose Medical Management Pathology Laboratory, Norcal Pathology Laboratory, and Cellular Diagnostics, LLC.
In addition to his extensive medical directorships, Dr. Weiss has been a consultant for companies like Arbor Vita Corporation, Mitem Corp, BioImagene Inc., Health Works Inc., and Genomic Health. His involvement in these organizations has led to advancements in areas such as HPV E6 Protein Immunohistochemical Stain validation and clinical implementation, electronic medical record development, and Oncotype Dx validation.
Throughout his career, Dr. Weiss has held positions on the Board of Directors for various organizations, including the California Society of Pathologists, Regional Medical Center of San Jose, and Good Samaritan Health System. He has also been actively involved in the leadership of San Jose Medical Center, serving as President, Vice-President, and Secretary-Treasurer of the Medical Staff.
Dr. Weiss’ dedication to his field has been recognized through several awards and memberships. He has been a member of the American Medical Association, California Medical Association, Santa Clara County Medical Association, College of American Pathologists, California Society of Pathology, U.S. and Canadian Academy of Pathology, and Southbay Pathology Society.
As a published author, Dr. Weiss has contributed to research in his field, with publications in notable journals such as the American Journal of Gastroenterology and Archives of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
