Pioneering Pathways in Pathology

Currently serving as the Medical Director at GI North Laboratory since March 2023, Dr. Tara W. Chang has built a robust career dedicated to the advancements in pathology. Prior to this position, Dr. Chang showcased her expertise as a Pathologist at Vizia Diagnostics from January 2019. She also held distinguished roles at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital as a Pathologist and spearheaded various initiatives as Medical Director at Precera Informed Prescribing, Comprehensive Pain, and Vision Laboratory Solutions, among others.

Dr. Chang achieved her Board Certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology in 2008 and is licensed to practice in numerous states across the US, with additional certifications in progress.

Her academic journey began at The University of Akron, where she earned her B.S. in Natural Science with honors, making it to the Dean’s list every semester and graduating Cum Laude. She then pursued her M.D. from the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. Subsequent to her graduation, Dr. Chang further refined her skills at Boston University Medical Center in an AP/CP Residency, during which she was honored with the title of Chief Resident. Her dedication to GI Pathology led her to Brown University, completing a fellowship in the domain.

In addition to her academic and professional roles, Dr. Chang has contributed to the scientific community with multiple publications, including research on nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain mutations, Mullerian Adenosarcoma, and Acute lymphoblastic leukemia, among others. She has been an active presenter at the Tumor Board at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital and is a proud member of the College of American Pathologists and the Rodger C. Haggitt Gastrointestinal Pathology Society.
